The lead sponsor is Scotiabank, but Santa Margherita is a "platinum level" sponsor. The Scotiabank AIDS Walk raises funds for AIDS-related charities all across Canada. In addition to a guest speaker from the AIDS Committee of Toronto, the top brass of Lifford Wine agency were also present at the event held at the Sub-Zero kitchen showroom on King St. E. It's so sleek and austerely elegant I wished I'd worn a slim-fit Italian suit.
The Santa Margherita was as reliable as ever and I learned that $0.50 from each bottle sold at the LCBO between mid-July and mid-August will be donated to the AIDS Walk organization. The Walk itself will be held in many cities across Canada - from Corner Brook, Nfld. to Victoria, B.C., to Whitehorse, Yukon - and will take place in mid- to late-September. To walk or sponsor someone, check your city here.
Or just go to the LCBO and load up on Santa Margherita - good, clean pinot grigio fun, ideal for summer sipping.
