LCBO Shocker from Ottawa
Michael Pinkus runs the Ontario Wine Review website and he's a great proponent of local wines, running regular taste-offs to determine the best cab franc, the best pinot noir, etc., according to the people. Pinkus is also a regular taster of all the wines in the world, including, um, at the LCBO Vintages tastings.
Pinkus spent much of last year getting under the skin of big Ontario wine producers with his unapologetic disapproval of "Cellared in Canada" wines: he's all about the little guys. My own view is more nuanced - I like to think mindful of market realities - but it's an issue and somebody's gotta air it.
And now, he's taking on the LCBO.
