The head of industry heavyweight Peller Estates said his company, Vincor and others have pulled out of the Wine Council of Ontario due to "irreconcilable differences" with the small and medium-sized wineries which are also members. You can bet the anti-"Cellared In Canada" hysteria is at the heart of it. The Wine Council represents 81 Ontario wineries and promotes their interests with the Grape Growers of Ontario, the LCBO and the government, as well as providing media resources and tourist/consumer promotional material.
The Wine Council has lately been trying to placate the anti-CIC people by, among other things, focusing more on 100%-Ontario VQA wines and proposing further restrictions and variations in content requirements for CIC. At first glance, it looks like maybe the went too far...
